Eames Storage Unit: style since 1956
The modular storage system proposed by Vitra perfectly suits the contemporary living space.
In 1956 Charles and Ray Eames devised a modular self-supporting bookcase inspired by industrial design. This is how the Eames Storage Unit for Vitra was conceived, an innovative structure capable of adapting to every environment while offering functionality and high-quality design. The Vitra Eames Storage Unit is a shelving system suitable for both home and office environments. It can also be integrated with the Eames Desk, part of the same series.
From the home space to the working space, the Eames Storage Unit answers all of our storage issues with a zinc-coated metal structure characterised by clean and simple features. Its height is adjustable so that it can be placed in every type of space and store mixed-sized items. Vitra offers this product in two dimensions: the ESU (Eames Storage Unit) Bookcase, which is bigger, can be a perfect bookcase or storage system; the ESU Shelf, which is smaller, is equipped with four shelving units that can hold books and documents.
Thanks to the collaboration with Eames Office and the Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, Vitra also offers a new colour selection for the Storage Unit, inspired by a 50’s palette but with a more contemporary feel to it. The unit’s containers can feature soft colours like grey, light blue or pastel brown, but they are also available in the design’s more daring traditional colours, such as red.
The structural lightness and linearity of Vitra’s Eames Storage Unit allows this product to blend with every home style, from the more contemporary to the more classic, offering a touch of distinguished design without abandoning the practicality and adjustability of interior furnishing.
Equip your home with the contemporary shapes and colours of this iconic design and you will find in the Eames Storage Unit the perfect home for your books, documents and objects.
